As we age, each of us may encounter particular cosmetic concerns. Facial aging often begins around the eyes, with a few laugh-lines at the corners or frown lines between the brows. Over time, it is the midface that changes. Here, fatty and muscle tissue degrade and overlying skin begins to look saggy. These changes tend to occur regardless of how well we take care of our skin because they are related to internal biological decline. Avoiding cosmetic aging is not possible, but correcting issues like laxity and fat depletion is. One way we do this is with the Silhouette InstaLift.
What is Silhouette InstaLift?
Silhouette InstaLift treatment is a type of thread lift technique that is garnering a significant amount of positive attention. Unlike outdated thread lift techniques, the Silhouette InstaLift involves the placement of coned filaments beneath the skin. Varying lengths of threads are used to reposition tissue across the midface, and the cones that are affixed around the thread hold tissue in place.
Treatment is conducted with a local anesthetic. Patients do not feel pain during their procedure. They may feel pressure and tugging as threads are inserted, which can feel somewhat strange, though not painful. After the threads are inserted, the tissue is gently pressed in an upward, outward motion. As this is done, the cones on the thread adhere to deeper tissue, locking it in place.
In addition to immediately repositioning tissue, an InstaLift also provokes a healing cascade in which collagen production increases for several weeks. Over time, as the sugar-molecule threads dissolve, tissue gains support from healthy new collagen fibers that continue providing firmness and suppleness.
Is an InstaLift in Your Future?
Silhouette InstaLift is a great in-between treatment, ideal for those who want to correct the early signs of aging, such as:
• Flattened cheeks
• Downturned mouth corners
• Marionette lines and nasolabial folds
Treatment typically takes less than an hour and patients are able to quickly resume normal activities. Slight redness may occur at insertion and exit points, but side effects are generally limited to this and, potentially, slight swelling. Threads are not visible beneath the skin because they are inserted at a depth where they provide foundational support.
