What to Expect from Your Silhouette InstaLift

Aging skin can be such a drag, literally. As a result of biological changes and sun damage, the skin receives much less collagen and elastin than it did when we were young. Elastin gives skin the ability to stretch and retract. Collagen gives skin its firmness and resilience. Without sufficient amounts of these proteins, we see thinning, wrinkling, and sagging that make the entire face look older and less friendly. Luckily, we have numerous ways to address the cosmetic concerns that come with age. Silhouette InstaLift is one of them.
How the InstaLift Works
The purpose of a Silhouette InstaLift is to reduce the appearance of sagging cheeks, jowls, and the creases that form between the nose and the mouth and the mouth and the chin. The upward lift achieved in the midface can also correct downturned corners of the mouth.
InstaLift treatments are performed in the office using a local anesthetic. Patients can expect their treatment to be very comfortable. The entire process typically takes less than an hour. Once done, normal activities can be resumed right away. This is one of the reasons why Silhouette InstaLift is so popular.
In addition to an easy treatment process and lack of recovery time, patients can expect to see an immediate difference in their appearance after an InstaLift. This is because the coned threads that are inserted “catch” onto subcutaneous tissue before we gently press upward and outward on the skin. This combination of techniques secures tissue in a naturally higher position for several months.
The threads used in Silhouette InstaLift treatment are dissolvable just like the sutures that are used in many medical treatments. Before they fully dissolve, the threads stimulate fibroblast cells to produce collagen on a consistent basis. This increase in collagen production enhances the firmness and volume of superficial tissue over time. For this reason, patients can expect the results of treatment to improve for up to six months after their procedure. Once threads dissolve, collagen production will decrease. Overall, the rejuvenating effects of treatment can last up to two years.
