OUR PRACTICE

Cosmetic Dermatology Services

Who said dermatology should only address the medical side of skin issues, such a eczema, rosacea, or contact dermatitis? At Westerville Dermatology & Aderma Medical Spa, our three board certified dermatologists also believe helping your skin look its best and healthiest is a part of our job.

That’s why we offer a slate of cosmetic dermatology procedures. From intense pulsed light to remove age spots to lasers for skin tightening or tattoo removal, from tightening a double chin to returning volume to sunken cheeks — we offer a wide range of cosmetic dermatology treatments for our patients from Westerville and the surrounding areas.

What is Cosmetic Dermatology?

Cosmetic dermatology is the name that encompasses a wide range of procedures designed to help you look your best. Treatments range from dermal fillers and other injectables to chemical peels that directly treat the skin. These treatments can remove wrinkles and lessen scars, exfoliate skin, and remove age spots and other dark spots.

Cosmetic dermatology corrects imperfections in the skin and body. This discipline is a branch of general dermatology that, instead of addressing skin diseases, corrects imperfections that impact your appearance. Cosmetic dermatology encompasses procedures such as BOTOX, chemical peels, and more.

QUESTIONS

Cosmetic Dermatology FAQs

Our cosmetic dermatology procedures are all non-invasive. This means there are no incisions or surgical procedures. These procedures have been cleared by the FDA for safety and involve very low risk. With some of them there is a possibility of some slight swelling and skin redness, but this passes quickly. With something like laser skin resurfacing, you may have some crusting as the skin rebuilds the outer layer and may resolve in a week or so.

These are, for the most part, comfortable treatments that don’t involve any pain. We apply topical numbing cream prior to some of them, such as laser hair removal and microneedling, to mitigate any discomfort. This ensures you stay comfortable during your treatment.

These are generally considered to be elective procedures, so they are not covered by insurance. There may be exceptions, but that would vary between insurance providers.

Depending on the procedure, cosmetic dermatology can last anywhere from nine months to two years. Most cosmetic dermatology is performed on a scheduled basis. We’ll discuss all the options with you during your initial consultation.
